In my last blog post I talked about the genre of music
called "Alternative" and the very popular group Coldplay. I also
mentioned that it was probably one of my favorite types of music, mostly
because what they say in their songs reflects their feelings and emotions. This
post will tell you why Classic Rock is my second favorite type of music.
Most of the youth now a days will say, "Classic Rock,
what is that?" or "Ew classic rock is dumb and boring", when
they don't even realize what it is or how much Classic Rock music they know and
love from movies, football or baseball games,
and even TV shows. I mean, who doesn't know the song "TNT" by
ACDC when you are at a football game, or "Don't Stop Believin" by
Journey? Name one person who hasn't at least heard one of those songs somewhere
that's over the age of, let's say twelve. If you can then I will take back
everything I say about classic rock and the youth of this world.
But even though many if not the majority of the young people
in America have heard of Classic Rock, or like some of the songs, that doesn't
excuse the fact that the genre of music is fading away every year because the
new generations are only interested in the "new hits" and pop and
rap. Now don't get me wrong, I have a certain taste for different pop songs and
rap songs. All I'm saying is that the youth of America needs to be more aware
of where their "pop" and "hit songs" came from or
originated.
Without classic rock and the great rock bands of the seventies,
eighties, and nineties, there wouldn't even be pop music in my opinion. No
Justin Bieber, no One Republic, no Bruno Mars, definitely no Imagine Dragons or
Coldplay, and no Train. All of these popular groups or people that may be the
hot stuff now, wouldn't even be here if it weren't for the classic rock bands
from thirty or forty years ago. So if you want someone to thank for all the music
you guys listen to now, thank the bands like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Van
Halen, Rolling Stones, Eagles, ACDC, Boston, Aerosmith, Genesis, The Who, ect.
Without their hit songs and fame, none of the popular artists now would have
any inspiration to create music, because all would have is Smooth Jazz, blues,
and classical.
