The Beatles

Some of my friends know me as the kid that always has the music to play. Whether it be pop, rap, indie rock, electronic, or even classic rock. Sometimes we all get caught up with some of the new music, and my group of friends will just end up listening to the same music or song over and over again. But, since I always have a variety of music to play, I have pretty much been assigned the role of "Music Captain".

Most of the time, my friends will always tell me "Ooo play that one song from the radio" or "play that one rap song!". But, every once and a while, I will surprise them with an old school classic rock song, and we always end up jamming out. This is because, like I said before, they are always getting caught up in the new and popular music. So one of my favorite bands to put on while we are all chilling at someone's house, or in the car, is The Beatles. Many times, you will see us driving down the road will our windows down, jammin' out to "Let it Be" or "Band on the Run".

The reason I love to bring back The Beatles all the time, is mostly because of how iconic they were, and they were one of the first rock and roll bands the also kind of sound like they could be a pop or indie rock band now a days.

According to the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), the Beatles are the best-selling music artists in the United States, with 177 million certified units. Which is ironic because they originally came to The United States from England. They have had more number-one albums on the British charts and sold more singles in the UK than any other act. In 2008, the bad topped "Billboard" magazine's list of the all-time most successful "Hot 100" artists; as of 2014, they hold the record for most number-one hits on the Hot 100 chart with twenty. They have received ten Grammy Awards, an Academy Award for Best Original Score and fifteen Ivor Novello Awards. The band was also included in "Time" magazine's collection of the twentieth century's 100 most influential people. They are the best-selling band in history, with estimated sales of over 600 million records worldwide. Which in my opinion, is very impressive.
